Afterglow Emergency Fluorescent Lamps
Power OFF
AfterGlow Lamps ON
Employees and customers can be in many different places in a building when an emergency strikes. Offices, restrooms, basements, parking garages, hallways, elevators and storerooms are just a few examples. Battery powered backup lighting systems may work in these areas but are very costly. They need maintenance, and even then, they can still break down. In the event of an explosion, they can fail. AfterGlow bulbs are an added measure of safety and protection and can be economically justified in areas where costly battery backup emergency lighting cannot. With AfterGlow bulbs, you can always count on them to emit light.

THE REAL COST OF LIGHTING
Dollars and Cents
In many cases, you can reduce the amount of energy consumed by your homes lighting at no cost, simply by turning lights off when they are not needed and by using low-wattage bulbs and task lighting. When replacing bulbs or fixtures, focus on energy efficiency. The extra money you spend will often be more than paid back through energy-cost savings. Consider the chart below, which compares the cost of replacing a 60-W incandescent bulb with a 15-W compact fluorescent.

FLUORESCENT LAMP DISPOSAL
Flourescent lamp disposal equipment crushes fluorescent bulbs of any length, and separates the glass and metal fragments of the tubes from the toxic chemical components. This safe and simple process allows for proper disposal of the hazardous waste, and recycling of the original cardboard containers. These machines eliminates exposure to phosphor dust, and mercury vapour from broken light tubes through a built-in carbon absorption system and particle filter, and can be safely used in educational institutions, hospitals, residential complexes and office buildings, as well as manufacturing, commercial and industrial sites.

PLASTIC COATED LAMPS
Shat-R-Shield now offers plastic-coated, shatter-resistant metal
halide lamps. These lamps are the safest, most efficient source of pure white light
available. The entire line is designed to be safely used in open fixtures.
Besides offering greater flexibility in system design, open fixtures tend to be less
expensive, are more compact, and are often more attractive than enclosed fixtures.
The lenses on enclosed fixtures reduce light output by up to 10%, and this light loss can
be compounded over time by build-up of dirt, grime and insects on the lens. For
lamps that are used in high ceiling fixtures, a common metal halide application,
the cost of routine maintenance and lamp replacement of enclosed fixtures is often
prohibitive.
