Plastic-Coated, Shatter-Resistant High Pressure Sodium Lamps
Shat-R-Shield now offers plastic-coated, shatter-resistant high pressure sodium lamps. These lamps are the safest, most efficient source of high intensity light available. High pressure sodium lamps are highly efficient (up to 140 lumens per watt), and produce a warm golden color. They are excellent for lighting large areas. They are often used in street lighting, flood lighting, industrial hi-bay, shopping malls, parks, and other commercial lighting uses where color rendering is not considered critical.
The entire line is designed to be safely used in open fixtures. Besides offering greater flexibility in system design, open fixtures tend to be less expensive, are more compact, and are often more attractive than enclosed fixtures. The lenses on enclosed fixtures reduce light output by up to 10 percent, and this light loss can be compounded over time by build-up of dirt, grime and insects on the lens. For lamps that are used in high fixtures, the cost of routine maintenance and lamp replacement of enclosed fixtures is often prohibitive.
HPS Standard & HPS EcoSafe Shat-R-Shield's Lumalux series of plastic-coated, shatter-resistant HPS lamps are available from 35 to 400 watts in both clear and diffused. The clear lamps, HPS EcoSafe, have been tested for and pass the Federal TCLP requirements for reduced mercury, have lead-free glass outer jackets and the mogul base lamps use welded, lead-free bases. Lumalux/ECO lamps have identical performance rating to the standard Lumalux they replace.
HPS EcoSafe Non-Cycling These environmentally friendlier lamps are designed with lead-free welded mogul bases and they contain up to 90% less mercury than standard HPS lamps. They are also designed so they will NOT CYCLE at end of life, providing quicker identification of outages and less repeat trips. All lamps operate on existing HPS ballast for corresponding wattage.
HPS EcoSafe Mercury-Free These lamps are constructed using an exclusive ceramic arc tube, a reformulated mercury-free fill, lead-free glass jacket and a lead-free welded base. They provide equivalent performance and are a direct replacement to standard HPS lamps.
Dual Arc These lamps contain a dual arc tube. In a single arc tube high pressure sodium lamp, the arc tube must cool before re-igniting after a power loss. With a dual arc tube lamp the second tube is cool and is able to immediately begin to light when the power is restored. This is especially valuable for safety and security concerns in areas occupied by people where light is needed as soon as possible after an outage. With the dual arc tube, the rated lamp life is 40,000 hours.
Retrofit These lamps are designed to be used on mercury lag or reactor ballast only, to enable you to upgrade to the advantages of high pressure sodium lamps.
